Success!!!!!

The young sailors in the club are showing great promise - for example, Marin Garnier came third in the 'Regate de la Ligue' held last Sunday in Antibes and Antoine Quemevat was first in the 'Regate du Critérium' under the supervision and training of Loic.

Unfortunately, it's JB's last day working at the club for a while - he is seen here with the children during the 'goûter'- look forward to seeing him as soon as possible and hope he has a nice holiday!

Half term

Typical of me to arrive just in time for the 'goûter' prepared for the children who were participating in the yacht club courses for half term - lots of choccy cake, caramabars and biccies - yum yum!

La Charente-Maritime to Bahia Transat 6.50 competition

Bravo to François Cuinet who has come 6th in this amazing race. We can see him here arriving at his destination in the second part of the race where he held fifth place. He had quite a lot of boat problems to sort out after the first part of the race, but managed to catch up with the leaders leaving him with a very honourable finishing position overall. We hope that he has a new adventure book lined up instore!

After a hard time full of storms and bad weather and the area being taken over for those nasty jetskis the other week it is back to normal at the yacht club with the usual Saturday events. Here you can the the preparation of the boats, out at sea and Patrick doing security on the zodiac.

Attracting new members to the club

This weekend the town of Cavalaire has organised a forum to attract new members to the club - not only for this club but for all the clubs in Cavalaire. This is a first. It has to be said that there are lots of possibilites to participate in various sports in Cavalaire and none of them are very expensive to join so there is no excuse! Poor old Patrick is busy creating a poster for this club plus the ping pong club. The forum is on Sunday from 10 til 6 I think. Perhaps it is not an ideal time for the yachting club as the season is over? Though windsurfing starts again on Saturday morning and I shall be there.

2008 or 2009?

One of my neighbours wanted to check on the prices for hiring a boat - er - how come we still have the 2008 prices for Point Plage in the Yacht club site when even the 2009 season is over? A great pity as most people judge clubs etc by the quality of their internet site these days.
